just watch TV...those battles go on for weeks...
this sim aims to replicate real war as closely as possible. even with routine patrols and traffic stops and stuff!

well here..i'll give you an example of one of my most memorable expierence with the earlier version of the engine in Operation: Flashpoint Resistance..
After boot camp (which is basically just showing you all the controls), my squad of 12 guys were loaded into a truck and transported across the island to a rear base. By then it was night, and we all hit the sack (except for those poor bastards on guard duty.) It was a pretty neat camp..in a square in the middle of a village..
well anyway, first thing in the morning, lieutenant come up and gets me and two others to patrol a section of road between our village and one of our side's flanks. We made contact after the first 10 minutes, and all of my mates were eliminated. As far as i could tell...i was facing a small team of russians..4-5 soldiers, with what sounded like AK-47's at about 500 yds away up a small incline. Giving the lay of the land..my only hope was to head for the forest behind me to the east. After about an hour of dodging orbiting Hind's and hiding from foot soldiers running through the woods (i had no idea if they were friend or foe..and i didn't really want to find out.), i was finally caught by a group of spetz-nas (or however it's spelled) and killed before i could even return fire.
apparently..the soviet invasion had begun just as we were on patrol...how unlucky of us, right?!

oh...and none of that was scripted. i've replayed the mission where my patrol eliminates the enemy patrol, seems the invasion coming and gets back to base.

lol Adler...sounds fun as Hell to me.
Steger, I wonder if the "weeks of battle" means it's set up similar to Battleground Europe?

I take this a literal. If its online and you have players from around the world playing (ie on at various times) a series of battles could take place over a period of a week (with different players coming in and off - probably explained away as have the option of rotating to the rear.)
I'd like to see how it would work as well, but it sounds pretty cool.

The link I posted above to the excellent ARMA forums has a video of an ARMA tank battle involving over a hundred tanks you should watch (in German but wth)!

well...say when you start a campaign, it'll be like 3/12/06..and you keep performing missions until one side has won. since the game is on a 24 hour day/night cycle...time progresses as usual. you may attack the same base 12 times over a week in order to accomplish your goal..whatever it may be. In a way, it is like Battlefield Europe..only the day and night cycles aren't accelerated.

i've obtained the Czechloslavakian version of the game. it's an enormous pain in the ass to get running, and the czech to english conversion doesn't work really well. the german version will have much better english, but i just couldn't wait to find out.
this game is fucking amazing...dare i say..it may be the new 3FJ game. or at least A 3FJ game.
right now it takes me about 30 minutes to get the game started each time, when the german version comes out, there should be a much better solution rather than the one i'm using. i'll keep you guys updated!

He probably means because it's in Czech (?) and not English? lol I wouldn't get far with that, either.
